Stages Of The Examination
The examination is conducted in three stages – the preliminary examination, the main examination, and the interview. The preliminary examination
Preliminary Examination: The first stage is a Preliminary Examination consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II). This is a screening test and the marks obtained in this examination are not counted for determining the final order of merit.
Main Examination: The Main Examination consists of nine papers of conventional (essay) type, viz., two qualifying papers (on Indian languages and other subjects) and seven papers to be counted for merit, all of which are of three-hour duration. The papers on Indian languages and English are qualifying papers with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%. The marks obtained in these papers are not counted for determining the rank. The remaining seven papers are counted for merit.
Personality Test: The Personality Test carries a maximum of 275 marks. Candidates who obtain such minimum qualifying marks in the Main Examination
